My Relationship with Sports Pre-Profile & Presentation Reflection
Peer Essay First Impressions
I think this essay tells a great and thoroughly complex story that I relate to as well. I really like the detail that was added and the storytelling-like flow, it does a good job at painting a basic picture of his life story (or sports life story). Additionally, it was great that he related what he learned through sports (football) to real life. It is certainly true that sports can teach many important life lessons and skills and he highlights this well in his essay. I relate to the part about getting to college or going through the recruiting process and having that realization that so many people are talented because it is a shocking change coming into college athletics from high school.

Project Reflection:
I think I am pretty satisfied with my project, but there are several things I would do differently if I were to do it again. I enjoyed having an actual subject to interview, rather than having to research something on my computer, and it was nice to actually be able to ask the exact questions that I wanted the answers to. On the positive side, I think my presentation was well organized, aesthetically pleasing, and I did well presenting it (confidence, audience eye contact, use of notecards, not relying on my slides). Things I would change if I did this project over would include delving a bit deeper and forming more of a cohesive story rather than just a factual slide presentation. I did well getting the information out, I think I just struggled with connecting it to create a whole story. Additionally, even though I rehearsed thoroughly, I fell victim to nerves and ended up rambling/going off script a little bit because I thought I was under time due to rushing a bit because of nerves. Overall, I did enjoy this project and found it fun to make one of my classmates look like an NFL player. Lastly, it was actually super cool to hear other people’s sports stories and I discovered some similarities between my life experiences and others that I never thought I would relate to. From traumatic coaches, to sports anxiety, to crazy sports connections, it was super interesting to learn the more vulnerable and hidden sides of my classmates.
